Well, not the typical book review.  It is not an ‘in-depth’ review. Brief would be the best description of the review. It is written with the assumption that you are familiar with the story, either through the HBO program or reading/listening to other books in the series.

I listened to the book after downloading it through Audible.com.  I listened to all 5 books in the ‘Song of Ice and Fire’ series by George R.R. Martin.  This is the series that the HBO series A Game of Thrones is based on. It was the television show that got me started on the books. I really liked A Game of Thrones, the first book. The second book, A Clash of Kings, was pretty good, too. Books three and four were pretty much like the fifth book, A Dance with Dragons.

Here is my review of A Dance with Dragons as copied and pasted from the Audible site.

“Is there anything you would change about this book?

This series just never ends. There’s never a real closing to any of the books. They just lead to the next book. Characters die and new characters are introduced. And it just keeps going.

What was most disappointing about George R. R. Martin’s story?

It seems as though Mr. Martin doesn’t know how to write an ending so he just keeps writing. Will there ever be an ending? There was for me. If he decides to write a Book 6, I won’t be reading/listening to it.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The narrative reading was excellent. The voices and dialog, not so much. I know it has to be difficult with all the different characters. And by the time he got to this book, who knows which character is which anymore?
